On Wednesday, October 7, the Deans of Science and Technology hosted the 2026 welcome gathering for incoming international scholars and students at Sosokan’s 7th-floor Forum on Yagami Campus. Held annually since 1999, the event helps incoming scholars, degree-seeking students, and short-term exchange participants from overseas feel at home as they begin their research work and campus life, while offering a valuable space to build connections and community.
The Faculty and Graduate School of Science and Technology welcomed 99 incoming international students from 24 countries and regions in September 2026. At the gathering, attendees enjoyed refreshments while socializing with their academic advisors as well as Keio students and alumni from international student support groups (Tokyo Mita Club, WelcomeNet, and KiNETiC). The Keio Cheer Group added to the festivities with a spirited performance. The friendly atmosphere gave incoming students and researchers a welcoming space to get to know one another as they began their studies in a new environment.
Connections continue throughout the year through monthly International Coffee Break meetups hosted by the Faculty and Graduate School of Science and Technology’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Working Group, providing regular opportunities to foster community.
