From August 6-8, 2024, five graduate students and two faculty members (Associate Professors Keita Ando and Linyu Peng) from Keio University’s Department of Mechanical Engineering took part in the Japan-Korea Four-University Mechanical Engineering Graduate Student Workshop at Korea University. This dynamic event brought together Korea University and Yonsei University from Korea, along with Waseda University and Keio University from Japan, to foster collaboration in the field of mechanical engineering.
The workshop featured a series of insightful oral presentations by professors from each university followed by poster sessions by graduate students. Associate Professor Keita Ando from Keio University delivered a compelling presentation on recent progress in ultrasonic cleaning research. In total, twenty-three PhD and master’s students presented their research, exchanging ideas and gaining valuable feedback from peers and experts alike.
This event marked the third workshop in the series and the first since the COVID-19 pandemic, following successful events organized by Yonsei University in 2018 and Keio University in 2019. These workshops have not only provided a platform for academic exchange but also strengthened the bonds between Japan and Korea’s leading institutions. The next workshop will be hosted by Waseda University, continuing this tradition of collaboration.
Keio University’s Department of Mechanical Engineering, together with the entire Faculty of Science and Technology, remains committed to fostering international cooperation through initiatives such as joint workshops, global leadership programs, and student exchange. These efforts underscore Keio’s dedication to advancing global education and academic collaboration.
