On Friday, August 30, 2024, the “Girls Science Club 2024” event was held at the Yagami Campus of the Faculty of Science and Technology, welcoming female middle and high school students. The event was organized with the support of the Yamada Shintaro D&I Foundation’s “Girls Meet STEM College.”
In the first part of the event, students engaged in experiments using magnets, such as floating mechanical pencil leads on a sheet of magnets, and suspending a small magnet placed between graphite plates. Additionally, three graduate students presented their recent research on magnetism and spintronics.
The second part featured a campus tour, during which Keio students guided the middle and high school participants to the Media Center, the Central Service Facilities for Research, and Building 34. The tour was followed by a roundtable discussion, where participants had the opportunity to freely talk with Keio students and faculty members about university life, entrance exam preparation, selecting a field of study, and studying abroad.
