On December 26, 2024, the Faculty of Science and Technology held a mochi-making event on the ground floor and oval atrium of the 14th building at Yagami Campus.
Approximately 250 international students* from 33 countries and regions are studying at Yagami Campus. This event was a new offering for international students so that they could experience Japanese cultural traditions. A total of around 400 students, faculty, and staff members participated in the event, chanting “Yoisho” as they pounded steamed rice until it formed into mochi “cakes” that they then ate fresh with other attendees. The event had an impressive turnout, that the supply lasted only an hour or so.
*As of May 2024
